BLS Ambulance
Ambulance 68 is a 2005 Ford F350 Chassis with a Fraizer custom
mobile-ambulance cab. Ambulance 68 was delivered to the station in late
2005, purchased using the CDBG grant. This grant is designed to help
municipal fire departments purchase equipment for stations in
low-income neighborhoods.
Ambulance 68 is a BLS unit that
is staffed with two EMT-Basics. Ambulance 68 has an assigned E/O and
one firefighter rotates daily from the fire apparatus to ride in charge
on the ambulance. The ambulance is stocked with ALS supplies so that
Paramedics who are assigned to ALS Squads can "ride-in" to the hospital
on ALS calls.
Ambulance 68 is continually in the top 5 for most monthly EMS &
Fire repsonses. Ambulance 68 made 4,610 runs last year (2005). This
averages to 13 runs everyday. Good days on the "box" are anything under
16 runs.
Its not uncommon for the relieving shift to pull up around 6am to find
the ambulance bay empty as they have ran all night and are out making
that last call before shift change.
