Engine Company 68 is a 2007 Ferrara Igniter Pumper.
It is one of a six pumper order going to E33, E68, E73, E74, E82 and E105 (originally E10, but with the opening of Station 105 in Kingwood, a 1000 gallon tank was added and it was sent there instead of 10's as originally planned.)
The basic pumper specs for this second ordered set include: Cummins ISL 400hp diesel engine and an Allison EVS3000 five-speed automatic transmission with Jake Brake, along with a 1500 GPM Hale single stage pump with a 500 gallon poly booster tank, and an 8KW PTO generator as well.
For water supply, the Ferrara comes with a pre-piped deck gun, 1-100’ 1-3/4” front bumper trash line 3-200’ 1-3/4” crosslays attack lines,
800’ of 2-1/2” static load (Make & Break load with smoothbore 1/8” tip), 400’ of 3” apartment lay with water thief, 200’ of 1” booster line on reel
, and 1000’ of canvas 4” LDH.
Some unique features and HFD "firsts" for this series of Ferrara Igniter Pumper include:

First HFD pumpers spec'd without traditional master compound gauges for pump pressure and residual pressure. Has all digital pump operations.

First Ferrara pumpers for HFD with Cummins engines in place of Detroit Diesel engines.

First Ferrara pumpers for HFD with aluminum “Extreme Duty” interior utilizing aluminum surface material in place of vacuum formed plastic.

Last HFD pumpers to be ordered with generators.

Last HFD pumpers to have old emission engines and capable of rated horsepower output. Next apparatus with have additional emission control requirements which will decrease usable horsepower
